Several current and former Macronie ministers appear in great difficulty following the first round of these early legislative elections. Some have even already announced their withdrawal.

It’s a debacle for Sabrina Agresti-Roubache. This Sunday evening, June 30, the Secretary of State for the City and outgoing MP announced her withdrawal, after coming third in the 1st constituency of Marseille. “ This evening the choice was clear, 45% for the National Rally, 27% for the New Popular Front, obviously I am withdrawing and in these conditions, I say it very clearly, in my constituency, “not a single vote for the National Rally” “, she told journalists gathered at her campaign HQ. In 2022, this close friend of the presidential couple was already in difficulty since she had won her seat in the Assembly by 480 votes ahead of the RN.

Another setback for the government of Gabriel Attal? Stanislas Guerini. With 34.42% of the votes, the Minister of Transformation and Civil Service comes in second position in the 3rd district of Paris – the one where he has been elected since 2017. The early Macronist is well ahead of the environmentalist candidate Léa Balage El Mariky (45.60%) whom he will face in the second round. In 2022, Stanislas Guerini was elected deputy with barely 1,000 votes in advance.

Fadila Khattabi, Minister Delegate for the Elderly and Disabled, is in an unfavorable position in the third constituency of Côte d’Or (Dijon and southern suburbs). The candidate Ensemble, who had already been re-elected in 2022 with only 66 votes ahead (out of a total of around 34,000) ahead of Nupes, only comes in third place, with 24%, compared to 30% for the NFP Pierre Pribetich, and 35% for the RN defended by the former prefect Thierry Coudert.

Three other ministers are in an unfavourable position with an RN risk and could withdraw: the Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories Marie Guévenoux, the Minister Delegate for Local Authorities and Rural Affairs Dominique Faure and the Secretary of State for Veterans and Remembrance Patricia Mirallès.

Former ministers

A tough blow for the former Prime Minister. In the 6th constituency of Calvados, Élisabeth Borne came in second with 28.93% of the vote… far behind the National Rally (RN) candidate Nicolas Calbrix (36.26%). The New Popular Front candidate Noé Gauchard won 23.16% of the vote and can therefore remain in the second round. If Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s instructions are respected, the LFI candidate could choose to withdraw.

He had announced that he would retrain in cosmetic surgery after leaving the government. Olivier Véran finally decided to run again in his constituency, the 1st of Isère, where he was elected for the first time in 2012. After the announcement of the results this Sunday evening, the former Minister of Health and spokesperson word of the government is finally well ahead in the first round (33.62%)… by the young rebellious Hugo Prévost (40.19%). The two opponents will be in a triangular position in the second round with the LR-RN candidate, who collected 18.34% of the votes.

No contest? In the 7th constituency of Paris, Clément Beaune was beaten in the first round by Anne Hidalgo’s first deputy (PS), Emmanuel Grégoire. The former Minister of Transport in the government of Élisabeth Borne only obtained 32.78% of the votes cast, compared to 50.87% for his competitor invested by the New Popular Front. A terrible rout for the man who became a deputy of the presidential majority again after leaving the government…
