Results in the 2nd constituency in Lyon: the NFP candidate is the big favorite

The NFP environmentalist candidate narrowly missed being elected in this first round. With 49.7% of the votes, Boris Tavernier ahead of the LREM candidate Loïc Terrennes by almost 15 points (25.1%). But unlike 2022 where the Nupes candidate was able to benefit from the votes of three dissident candidates on the left who were not qualified for the second round, the candidate of the union of the left has very few reserves of votes. He certainly won’t need it.

Maryll Guilloteau, right LR “historic canal”, arrives in fourth position in the first round. With 7.7% of the votes, Christophe Guilloteau’s daughter was not able to obtain enough votes to maintain her position. The National Rally came in third position in this constituency acquired mainly from the left and the presidential majority, and obtained “only” 14.3% of the votes. Not enough to survive.

Who lives in the 2nd constituency of the Rhône?

In this 2nd constituency which notably includes the Vaise district in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, the median annual household income is around 24,650 euros. It is higher than the median income in the Lyon Metropolis (which is 22,710 euros). It is 22,000 euros nationally.

Nearly 66% of employed people in the 2nd constituency of the Rhône work in Lyon. Around 27% go to another municipality. This is a situation completely opposite to that of the 14th constituency (around Vénissieux) for example, where nearly 75% of employed people work in a different municipality.

Soft modes of transport, walking and cycling, are therefore logically more used than the metropolitan average. In 2018, they were used by nearly 25% of workers. Just like public transport, which is rather well developed in Lyon, used by nearly 40% of workers.
