Thursday November 21, 2024, blockedshipwrecked road professionals, Eric and Jean-François did not know each other. But, with the snow on Thursday November 21, 2024, they met in Domfront-en-Poiraie, in Orne.

Two truck trips: Flers,

Eric (Transport Cayon) part de Rennes to go to Flers. As for Jean-François (Transport Olano), he takes his truck to Le HavreSince Laval. Both are drivers.

Despite the snow and wind Caetanowhile the gendarmes let them pass, quite astonishingly, particularly at Rennesthey both find themselves stranded when they arrive in Domfront-en-Poiraie.

There was a deviation. We were forced to take this small road with a steep slope, rue du Livet. At the top, a truck jackknifed due to the snow and blocked the road. The others behind were therefore also stopped by the obstruction of the track. Then, the gendarmes told us that we were not to move until further notice. So, since then, we have been stuck here.

“It’s Friday the 22nd. We passed the nuit here. This allowed us to get to know each other, particularly with Jean-François ».

“We make back and forthlet's sympathize between road. We have nothing else to do. We have warned our employers of our immobilization », adds Jean-François.

At least four trucks are blocked in the street, in a row.

A little rant

“I still find that there is an organizational problem in . As soon as there is 20 centimeters of snow, there are like quacks. However, this makes 5 days let's talk about this snow. We have been warned for a long time.”

So, how can we explain that the prefectures prohibit the movement of trucks, but that employers are not warned, and still allow us to drive? There should be greater transmission of information, communication, and greater mobilization of all stakeholders at the same time, a bit like in Italy, for example.

Leave again, yes, but when?

Rue du Livet de Domfront has, after the first truck which was immobilized by bad weather, closed to traffic, except for local residents.

Eric and Jean-François do not know when they will be able to leave, even if, with the return of positive temperatures in the afternoon, it's a safe bet that it won't delay. Moreover, several trucks other streets of Domfront (less steep) have already started again.

A beautiful solidarity

They nevertheless keep good memories. For Eric, a driver fromAin : “it was appreciable to see the habitants from the area to come see us to chat, and find out how we were doing. There were good times conviviality. They even brought us coffee. There was a real sense of'hospitality ».
