Twenty-four departments, from Normandy to the Grand Est, are placed on orange snow-ice vigilance this Friday, November 22 by Météo-France.
Be careful on the road. While storm Caetano moved east during the night, Météo-France is keeping 24 departments on orange snow-ice alert this Friday, November 22.
This Friday at 10 a.m., Sarthe, Eure-et-Loir, Cher, Loiret and Loir-et-Cher are no longer on orange alert for a risk of snow-ice. The two departments of Corsica are returning to yellow alert for violent winds.
“Storm Caetano has now left the country”, underlines Météo-France in its latest bulletin. “At the back, the very clear refreeze is well in place, making the roads particularly slippery, where the snow fell yesterday. A few showers of snow or mixed rain and snow are still circulating in the morning near the Channel.”
Although the snowfall, which was rather unusual in the west of France, decreased significantly, it had significant consequences and continued to cause chaos on the roads. Restrictions on road transport apply in certain areas this Friday while SNCF traffic remains locally disrupted.
Friday at 7 a.m., around 200,000 customers remained without electricity compared to 270,000 on Thursday. “The most affected regions are Normandy (69,000), Pays-de-Loire (37,000) Center-Val-de-Loire (22,000),” said electricity network manager Enedis.
