Every ten minutes, a woman was killed in 2023 around the world. This is the frightening statistic established by the United Nations (UN). On Monday November 25, 2024, it will publish its report on “feminicides committed by intimate partners or family members”, on the international day for the fight against violence against women. For the occasion, gatherings are planned around the world.

In , a comprehensive law requested

In France, the cause took on particular resonance with the so-called Mazan rape trial, the accusations of sexual violence against Abbé Pierre and Gérard Depardieu. “We sense, in public opinion, a sort of astonishment to realize that the rapists are ordinary men”says Suzy Rojtman.

Thursday, November 21, a coalition of more than sixty organizations published 140 recommendations for “a comprehensive law against sexual violence”. It provides a framework for “effective public policy to combat sexual violence” ; educational and training measures for “roll back sexism and rape culture” ; a plan to improve the “victims’ legal journey” and a catalog of measures dedicated to specific violence.

Gatherings will take place on November 23 in , November 25 in , and . All events are listed on the websites of the regional prefectures of Centre-Val de and Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
