The Food Bank collection is this weekend

From today Friday November 22 and until tomorrow Saturday, 1,300 orange vests from the Banque Alimentaire du Tarn will collect foodstuffs in partner stores.

To supplement and diversify its food stocks, the Food Bank, as every year, appeals to the generosity of the public. “The 2024 National Collection constitutes a real challenge against food insecurity. In two days, in Tarn, it allows us to collect the equivalent of 166,000 meals (83 tonnes in 2023)” we explain from the Tarn Food Bank. The rise in the price of food and energy weighs particularly heavily on low-income and most precarious households. The Food Bank's partner associations (social grocery stores, SOSbabies, municipal social action centers, Red Cross, Women's House, Secours catholique, etc.) observe this on a daily basis. “The annual collection allows us to cover 15% of our needs and above all to diversify the food distributed. »

Canned goods, milk, flour, coffee…

Canned goods are in high demand by associations, as are cooked meals based on meat or fish, with an emphasis on small packages for people who live alone. On the list of “essentials” always include milk, oil, flour, coffee, sugar, pasta… but also why not chocolate, biscuits. It is also possible to make a financial donation online at www.monpaniersolidaire.org. In certain partner stores, donations can be made during checkout. The amount is debited and transferred to the Banque Alimentaire du Tarn.

Associations, sports clubs mobilized

« This year again, we can count on the support of many young, one-off volunteers.” clubs, civil protection, Tarn and Tarn Sud Youth Missions, scouts, Uni Cités, come to support the collectives set up by the Food Bank's partner associations.
Among the sports clubs, we can also cite the US which organizes collections in its premises at the Rigaud stadium every Wednesday in November. Teams of all ages will be present on Saturday, November 23 in the Leclerc Les Portes d'Albi stores, in Lescure d'Albigeois and at the Intermarché Albi Le Séquestre.
