Activity was intense during the night from Thursday to Friday, in particular because of the wind in the region.

SDIS 73 (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) has received 400 calls since 7 p.m. Thursday evening. They gave rise to 65 interventions. 50 interventions for Haute-Savoie firefighters with trees that fell on power lines, SNCF tracks or homes.

Damage but no injuries in Savoie

The Savoyard firefighters' outings concerned uprooted trees, blown roofs and other damage linked to strong winds. Two sectors were mainly impacted: the Aix-les-Bains region and Tarentaise. At the height of the night, up to 100 firefighters were mobilized for interventions. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

Remember that the department was on orange alert for strong winds.

Haute-Savoie firefighters are increasing their number of outings

In Haute-Savoie also the night was very busy with interventions following bad weather. And it started at the end of the afternoon with the 100 m² roof of a flour mill which was torn off in Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny around 5 p.m. 150 tonnes of wheat were exposed to the rain. The operation made it possible to avoid any technical unemployment in the company.

A power line downed in Albanian

Around 5:30 p.m., emergency services intervened in Marcellaz following the fall of a tree on a 20,000 volt line on the road. A bus carrying children got stuck. The young people as well as the driver were evacuated.

In Annemasse, a tree fell on a small building due to the wind. Two apartments were impacted without causing any injuries. However, 5 rehousings were necessary.

SNCF traffic also impacted in Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny

Rail traffic has not escaped the disruptions. In Saint-Pierre a TER found itself blocked on the tracks, again because of a tree. 150 people were evacuated and completed their journey with a substitute bus.
