Amiens STT 0 – PPC Villeneuve-sur-Lot 3
Lieu Amiens (Labbaume room).
The matches: Damien Llorca (PPCV) beat Denis Dorcescu (Amiens STT) 3-2: 11-9, 8-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9; Olajidé Omotayo (PPCV) beat Benjamin Fruchart (Amiens STT) 3-1: 11-8, 14-12, 9-11, 11-7; Gustavo Gomez (PPCV) beat Santiago Lorenzo (Amiens STT) 3-1: 10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7.
Damien Llorca had to fight for many minutes to get rid of Denis Dorcescu who did not want to give up. Two very close players on paper (126e et 130e), but also at the table, in an unsustainable fifth set (9-9). On his opponent's serve, Llorca's racket did not shake while scoring the following two points (11-9). In front of his screen, the president of the PPCV Marc David crossed his fingers, and wanted to believe in the rebirth of his team.
The second to come to the table was Olajide Omotayo. Freed from his health problems, he found his way to victory (3-1), thus ending a dark series of six defeats. At halftime, Cédric Lepage's players were leading the game (2-0).
Two receptions in three days
Returning from the locker room, Gustavo Gomez had enormous pressure on his shoulders. His two teammates had just done the job. Not very successful either, in this Pro B, doubt quickly set in in his head with the loss of the first round against Santiago Lorenzo (10-12). Villeneuvois, however, managed to equalize at one set all (1-1) and a new match began. The next two sets fell to him (11-8, 11-7) and, with them, the final victory for the PPCV.
Amiens, although accustomed to scoring one or even two points during its matches, had just suffered a scathing defeat in its home arena (0-3). Marc David and Cédric Lepage could take a breath and already look forward to their team's next two meetings: this Sunday (4 p.m.) at the Myre-Mory complex against Le Havre, and two days later, in this same room (19 h 30), facing Lille Métropole TT.
