As at the beginning of this year, farmers are going back into battle. In Île-de-France, act 2 of this movement, which still demands concrete measures from the government, as well as the abandonment of free trade agreements between the European Union and the Mercosur countries, in fact began on Sunday, November 17.
That day, several Seine-et-Marne farmers, members, for the most part, of the Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions of Seine-et-Marne (FDSEA 77) and Young Farmers of Seine-et-Marne (JA 77)joined their Ile-de-France colleagues.
Around a hundred operators farmers thus converged with their tractors towards the Nationale 118, near the Vélizy-Villacoublay air base (Yvelines), in order to block the access routes to Paris. Samuel Vandaele and Pascal Verriele, respectively president and secretary general of FDSEA 77, as well as several canton presidents were notably present.
This anger will continue until Christmas
“We let the summer pass, but today is the time for us to get back on track. Yes, there was a change of government and they entered into the files, but now we want to get to the bottom of these files. There is Mercosur which is the launching point, but behind it, there are the standards, the simplifications and the means of production which are the first demands of the peasants of Île-de-France. Let's play on equal terms with all foreign countries“, declared Samuel Vandaele, new president of FDSEA 77 since last September and responsible for an operation in Pécy.
Previously, it was a joint press release from the Ile-de-France authorities of the FNSEA and the JA which announced the color: “As long as the government continues to walk on its head, we will mobilize to preserve our competitiveness and our income “.
This first action in Vélizy-Villacoublay was only the beginning of a vast movement which should increase in intensity in Seine-et-Marne and everywhere in France at least until the Christmas holidays.
