The Finistère charcuterie association La Charcuterie gourmande, 16 members, wants to use reusable containers to package its products. This involves limiting the use of disposable plastic. She goes test the approach for six months in three stores before generalizing it.
The caterer's customers Ravalec, in Quimper, can already choose reusable boxes since the beginning of November 2024. Maison Le Grand in Plonévez-Porzay begins offering them Thursday, November 21 and At Saint-Antoine in Daoulas expected to launch in December.
“This approach corresponds to the values of our group: the short circuit, quality, authenticity…”, explains Lénaig Guiziou, responsible for communications for the association.
A deposit of 3 euros
The gourmet charcuterie teamed up with the En Boîte le Plat association which supplied the Duralex glass boxes. This national network aims to move away from the logic of everything disposable by reintroducing a reusable packaging solution for takeaway sales. The Ravalec store was equipped with 600 boxes.
Concretely, customers are offered a glass box by sellers, against a deposit of 3 euros. Which is returned when they return the box to the store.
Habit change isn't easy for everyone. “But it’s coming. Day by day, more and more customers accept the principle,” note the salespeople at Ravalec.
The latter are trained to understand the issues and know how to convince their customers (for formationLa Charcuterie gourmande benefited from aid from Opco EP and the State, as part of the ecological transition). Of the supports de communication were also displayed in the store.
“We really want it to work, so we don’t just make the boxes available,” emphasizes Lénaig Guiziou.
At Ravalec, we will also very soon abandon plastic bags (they were chargeable) in favor of burlap shopping bags.
