Still chaired by its creator, Marcel Clermont, the association Cabrettes et accordions des burons de Pailherols in Ytrac will celebrate its 16th anniversary this year. We reveal the secret of its longevity.

“We try to transmit the musical traditions of our territory. » After sixteen years of existence, a close-knit team of nine people, made up of musicians, singers and volunteers aged 21 to 73, offered 512 concerts and activities.

“We host masses, from start to finish. We give concerts, mainly in churches. And we organize entertainment. But we never give a ball.” A choice assumed by the team who intend to continue on this line this year. “Since 2012, the accordionist Sylvie Pullès has been our patron. In 2015, when she filled the Olympia, she gave us the opportunity to play nearly thirty minutes for her first part.” This attentive patron wrote songs for the group: La Bourrée de Pierrefort and La Mazurka des burons de Pailherols.

The cabrette was included in UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage in 2018. We must transmit our love and passion for this instrument, and the artistic heritage attached to it.

“We also played with Michel Pruvost in the North. It’s a concert that can be seen on the local channel Weo (www.weo.fr),” explains Marcel Clermont. “On this occasion, we met Jean-Claude Borelly.” The trumpeter will come to give a series of concerts in Cantal, at the beginning of August, at the invitation of the association. It plans an event for the passage of the Tour de France, to participate in the shepherds’ mass on July 21, then in the 100th anniversary of the association friendly to Caquesiaux, in Orléans, in the fall. “Above all, we will organize, at the end of September, the fourth edition of the week of the cabrette, in Arpajon-sur-Cère. It’s an idea that we had launched with Roland Cornet, the former mayor of Ytrac, now deceased. The first one took place in his town, in 2019.”

This edition will take place from September 23 to 28, primarily aimed at schoolchildren. “This event helps strengthen social ties and revitalize the area around an artistic project: the defense of cabrette and Auvergne folklore,” explains Isabelle Noygues, musician, singer and secretary. An event organized with the support of the Cantoin bagpipe museum (Aveyron). “We meet children who are always interested and exciting,” smiles Marcel Clermont. On the sidelines of this week of transmission between generations, the troupe will give concerts and meet residents of the nursing home and other structures.”
