THE professional skills by Emilie Trémouille, graphotherapist since 2018 and remedial teacher most recently, have been forged over time to reach their full potential today.
Who is Émilie Trémouille?
Specialized educator state graduateÉmilie Trémouille worked for many years in the department with children and adolescents. Holder of a license psychology and a master's degree in educational sciences “Schooling students with special educational needs”, it supports son cabinet or outside students with specific learning disorders.
“I discovered graphotherapy when in kindergarten my son's teacher challenged him on the fact thathe held his pencil very poorly. To better understand, I did training in this area focused on primordial motor integration» , explains the therapist. She decides to expand her field of competence in orthopedagogy by enrolling at the University of Clermont-Auvergne at Master 2 specialties in Education Sciences, a diploma from which she is holder for three months.
What is graphotherapy?
Graphotherapy which emerged in the 60s is a method of writing rehabilitation and the graphic gesture which is aimed at children, adolescents and adults who encounter difficulties : slowness, lack of care, lack of readability, painetc.
After an initial contact which makes it possible to determine the difficulties encountered, a bilan graphomoteur is established. It is then followed by a proposal for re-education of writing. The sessions last 45 minutes from CP class and 30 minutes for kindergarten children. “The duration of rehabilitation depends on motivationthe speed at which the different concepts are appropriated and the degree of initial difficulties but rarely exceeds ten sessions» , specifies Émilie.
And orthopedagogy?
Orthopedagogy which is widely practiced in Québecis an educational science whose purpose is to evaluate and support learners likely to encounter difficulties in their school learning like those who know their lessons but forget everything once in front of a leaf in class, who feel stressedhave difficulty staying focused and being attentive in class, lose their means during a check. The objective is to help them to develop strategies learning, cognitive, behavioral, sensory and memorization.
Here too, after an initial contact a evaluation report allows us to draw up an inventory of the situation of the child or adolescent: what are his points of support, his difficulties; this allows us to determine the needs. Depending on these, support sessions are offered. “The duration of follow-up depends on each individual, it is on a case-by-case basis”.
