They still want to believe it. The LFI proposal for the dismissal of President Emmanuel Macron was again deemed admissible on Wednesday by the office of the National Assembly, a possible examination in the hemicycle remaining pending its registration, firstly in the Law Committee.
A similar proposal had already been examined and then largely rejected in committee at the beginning of October by 54 deputies out of the 69 who took part in the vote. Fifteen deputies (rebellious, communists or environmentalists) spoke in favor.
In the process, the conference of presidents of the National Assembly chose not to include the text on the agenda in the hemicycle, which was requested by the New Popular Front as a whole, despite the opposition of the socialists on the merits. of the procedure.
To increase the pressure, the Insoumis deputies hope to have the impeachment proposal examined in their parliamentary niche on November 28. Without too much surprise, they obtained a first green light by passing the admissibility filter of the office of the Assembly on Wednesday, where the NFP has a majority since its post-dissolution reconstitution, according to several parliamentary sources.
But to have a chance of having the text examined under the lights of the hemicycle on November 28, the Insoumis will first have to go through the Law Commission box. “The president of the law commission Florent Boudié (Together for the Republic) must now have it examined. If he refuses, he would flout our strict constitutional right to choose the texts of our niche,” said the president of the LFI group Mathilde Panot on Wednesday.
As things currently stand, however, the impeachment procedure has extremely little chance of ultimately being adopted, since it must be approved by two-thirds of parliamentarians, deputies and senators combined. A challenge when even the parliamentary left is not unanimous in supporting it.
