The new format of the women's Euroleague, with three teams out of four coming out of the first round, offers some interesting prospects to French clubs. Two of the three French representatives in C1 can obtain their qualification from this Wednesday during the 5th and penultimate day of the first round.
This is the case of Bourges, which can validate its ticket in the event of a victory or defeat of less than 35 points against Olympiakos, a team that Olivier Lafargue's players had corrected a month earlier in Athens (53- 88). The scenario is almost identical for Basket Landes, which would obtain its very first qualification for the second phase in the event of a victory against Salamanca… or a defeat combined with a victory for Schio against Miskolc.
The ESBVA is playing for its survival
The calculation is quite different for Villeneuve d'Ascq, still deprived of a victory this season (11 defeats including 4 in the Euroleague). The players of Rachid Meziane receive the Polish women of Polkowice to offer themselves a reprieve.
A new setback would definitively condemn the outgoing finalists while a success of 27 points or less would force them to win on November 27 in Zaragoza, hoping that Fenerbahçe, reigning European champion, wins at home against the Poles.
