Snow could appear in the Channel this Thursday according to Météo France which placed the department in orange warning for snow and ice. The Normandy Region has decided to suspend its school transport lines Nomad this Thursday in the Channel. However, the circulation of certain commercial lines is ensured in the department:
- line 301: Saint-Lô/Cherbourg
- line 303: Valognes/Coutances
- line 305: Lison/Granville
The suspension also concerns the departments of Orne, Calvados and Eure. Saint-Lô agglo has also decided to suspend school transport (for the rest, disruptions are expected). In theCotentin agglomerationschool transport provided by the network Cap Cotentin et Neva in Granville are currently maintained.
A84 motorway closed to heavy goods vehicles from 6 a.m.
It is especially the south of the Manche department which should be affected by the snow. The prefect “recommends avoiding driving during snowfall”. The A84 will be closed to heavy goods vehicles from this Thursday at 6 a.m. between Fougères and Caen; heavy goods vehicles will have to follow a load-shedding route passing through Avranches-Granville-Coutances-Carentan-Bayeux (D973 and D971). Moreover the N174 will be prohibited for heavy goods vehicles between Saint-Lô and Guilberville (North-South direction).
This Wednesday evening, the prefecture also adds that “road managers are ready to intervene to ensure the viability of main and secondary roads”.
