Poll, oh my beautiful poll, tell me who is the most beautiful… or the most beautiful. In Cergy, the municipal elections of March 2026 are already on everyone's minds. As proof, an opinion survey intended to take the temperature, a little less than a year and a half before the fight at the polls, was carried out by a polling institute. Conducted in recent weeks by telephone with a representative sample of the population, the questionnaire was split into two parts.
Go back or not
The first focused on municipal action, the second, purely political, examined the personality of the mayor of Cergy, Jean-Paul Jeandon (Ps), and that of two of his loyal supporters, Malika Yebdri, first Ps deputy for associative life and Eric Nicollet, Ps assistant for planning.
“Is Cergy a city that makes young people want to settle down? On the following subjects, would you say that you are satisfied or dissatisfied: environment, optical fiber, citizen participation, shops, housing, traffic conditions, etc. Have you heard of the following projects and do you consider them useful or not useful: renovation thermal energy of public buildings, construction of a school in Marjoberts… » These are some of the questions submitted to Cergys residents in order to measure their degree of satisfaction. Or dissatisfaction.
The second part of this Cergy barometer focused on Jean-Paul Jeandon, his action, his personality, his notoriety.
“Can you tell me the name of the mayor of Cergy? » he was asked. “In general, is Jean-Paul Jeandon's record as mayor of Cergy very positive, rather positive, rather negative, very negative? For each of the following qualifiers, can you say if they correspond rather well or rather poorly to the image you have of Jean-Paul Jeandon: who has a project for Cergy, open to dialogue with residents, present on the ground , dynamic, who defends the interests of Cergy well, takes care of the different districts of the city fairly, close to people's concerns, competent. »
The opportunity for Jean-Paul Jeandon to run again for six more years was also questioned: “The next municipal elections will take place in 2026, on this occasion, would you like the current mayor Jean-Paul Jeandon to run again and be re-elected? Yes absolutely, yes rather, no rather not or no not at all.”
The last question of this invitation to confess was concerned with the “good” or “bad opinion” that the Cergys people have of Malika Yebdri and Éric Nicollet.
Two possible remedies in the event of the withdrawal of Jean-Paul Jeandon who, upon taking power in 2013, had promised that he would not go further than two mandates. A certainty that is no longer entirely certain today in the light of the questions asked in this survey… In the Cergy Landerneau, it is rumored that his verdict will dictate Jean-Paul Jeandon's choice: to return there or not.
The opposition wants to know the results, all the results
“You told us that we would have access to the results of this survey as soon as they were published, I hope that we will be entitled to the completeness of the results,” insisted Armand Payet (Horizons), leader of the right and center opposition, addressed to Jean-Paul Jeandon, during the last municipal council. “If there are many questions about how residents perceive the city, I would be more curious to know what the results were of the questions that touched on the personality of the mayor, what were the results of the question of whether the mayor must run again in 2026.”
The opponent also questions the financing of this opinion survey. Was it paid in full by the City? “Consulting regularly is an important thing but if it is the city accounts which financed this questionnaire, that raises questions about the use of public funds,” supported Daisy Yaïch (Lfi), ousted from the majority in September.
“As soon as we have the results, they will be communicated to you for the part financed by the City which is 38,000 euros,” assured Jean-Paul Jeandon.
And to continue: “I am not authorized to transmit the part which was not financed by the City, contact the Fédération du Ps Val-d'Oise for this… There are a certain number of questions asked by the City, others which were surely sponsored by the Ps. The last questions were not paid for by the City Since 1998, at each mandate, the City has carried out a survey which generally asks the same questions. what was paid by the municipality will be available and will be communicated In 2013, a survey was carried out, the names of opposition members were tested and it shocked no one…”
