(Stéphane Martin, June 27, 2024) – The MNA for Mercier and founding member of Québec Solidaire, Ruba Ghazal, was in Sorel-Tracy on Wednesday as part of her New Quebec tour.

The opportunity was for the elected official to hold a conference aimed at promoting the independence of Quebec in front of around thirty people gathered at the Center for Contemporary Arts.

“Our regional political history shows that we have been sovereignists for a long time. It is important to hold activities like yesterday’s. There are not enough of them yet for my taste. The idea is to convince people, to go and meet them and to do the exercise of hearing other points of view that can be confronting. That is healthy democracy. People rely a lot on what they hear on TV and in the media to form a political opinion. We must make the effort to travel, to get involved, to not be afraid to ask questions and to take a stand.”says the spokesperson for the Québec solidaire Richelieu association, David Dionne.

“Yesterday I walked into my house with a smile on my face. Of the thirty people who were present, there were many new faces. Richelieu really mobilized yesterday and I am very touched by this success. Young people understand that they have the most to gain because the choices we make today will have an impact on tomorrow. This is the society in which they will live. That said, we are talking about an outstretched hand for everyone”adds Mr. Dionne.
