It is in recognition and gratitude that the Lebanese or Senegalese-Lebanese community posed. Concerned about the delicate situation of thousands of inhabitants of Bakel, Matam, Kolda, Saint Louis, Ziguinchor, Kédougou and Tambacounda, it was a question for the Lebanese community to offer the victims relocated for the most part in makeshift camps , food (rice, oil, milk, sugar, etc.), sleeping equipment (mattress, etc.), sanitary hygiene and other miscellaneous items.
“The Lebanese community, which has been settled in Senegal for more than a century and currently has 5 generations, contributes greatly to the economic, social, political life and development of their host country. Always driven by this feeling of gratitude and this deep integration in all areas of life,” underlines the Ambassador of Lebanon, His Excellency Sami Haddad.
At the same time, Mr. Haddad praised the posture of Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye regarding the crisis in Lebanon.
Welcoming the Lebanese delegation to its premises, the Minister of the Interior, Jean Baptiste Tine, praised this strong gesture. “You reached out, offering not only material help, but also a glimmer of hope for those who needed it so much. The Lebanese community, through its noble gesture, has shown that in times of hardship, distance and differences fade to make way for a shared humanity,” rejoices the minister.
This proof of love towards Senegal, “country of heart”, also testifies to the universal values of mutual aid and fraternity. This commitment of the Lebanese, appreciated at its true value, will thus make it possible to relieve suffering, rebuild lives and bring new life to families who, without this support, would have had difficulty getting back on their feet.
“Your gesture is a light in dark times and a powerful reminder that, when we join forces, we can overcome all challenges (…) May this solidarity continue to prosper” declares the state authority whose office is responsible for dispatching donations according to affected localities.
