In Vernon (Eure), among the eight posters posted on the election signsfor the 2024 legislative elections, one may have particularly caught your attention.

That of this candidate dressed in an animal coat and armed with an ax accompanied by a soldier in the background, brandishing a shield. No, this is not a campaign for the release of a new series on Vikings but a campaign poster… for the legislative elections.

Ludovic Beaujouan, candidate without label of the 5e constituency of Eure, disguised himself as a descendant of Rollo to promote Norman territory. His rallying cry? “Paris, here we come again!” »

Questioned by our colleagues from France Bleu, Ludovic Beaujouan admits to having bet on originality and surprise in order to “get noticed” during this express campaign:

“I wanted us to see her […] I am all alone in this campaign. I printed the poster with my money, I have a friend, my father and my wife with me and that’s it. So the poster should make you want to know a little more about my ideas, which are even more original than my poster. »

A ghost candidate

In the constituency, two other candidates are running for the first time, without a label and therefore without the strength of an established party. It is therefore difficult to find financing in such a short time, if only to print his posters. Proof of this is in Vernon, where Colin Prévoteau du Clary, various right-wing candidate, deserted the electoral signs.

Christian Mazure, manager of the Pacific garage in Vernonnet, also launched into the legislative battle, taken by surprise by this surprise dissolution.

Fervent defender of heritagehe is a member of the office of the association for the protection of the heritage and aesthetics of Vernon and Vernonnet.

It is therefore not insignificant to see him appear, on his poster, in front of the Moulin de Vernon, an emblematic building of the city, alongside his wife and deputy, Héléna Martinez, also mayor of Sainte-Geneviève-lès-Gasny. Its slogan: “Rurality, security, employment and purchasing power”.

From city to rurality

Frédéric Duché, mayor of Andelys, also focused on rurality by displaying, in the background, the green plains of Normandy.

On the poster, he is accompanied by his partner, François Ouzilleau, mayor of Vernon, relegated this time to the position of substitute.

In 2022, it was invested by the presidential majority in the 5e constituency but the deputation had narrowly escaped him (nearly 500 votes were missing from the counter, Editor’s note).

For these early elections, the stakes are high: there is no question of letting “ the extremes » proliferate in the Assembly.

So, the local supporters of the presidential majority relied on a more rural and unifying candidacy, that of Frédéric Duché.

Emmanuel Macron has disappeared

Another notable change in 2024, unlike his Vernon counterpart, the mayor of Andelys did not wish to appear with the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

On his poster, no party is indicated, suggesting that this is a candidacy without a label. However, the mayor of Andelys, inserted Horizons (party launched by the former Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe), was indeed invested by the presidential majority.

His opponent, Timothée Houssin, did not fail to highlight this “misleading” candidacy:

“We are faced with an adversary who does not say his name, a candidate nominated by the presidential majority whose label he nevertheless does not assume. »

So to enlighten the voters, the candidate of National gathering has placed an inscription under each of its campaign posters stating: “Voting Duché means voting Macron”.

Timothée Houssin files a complaint for repeated tearing down of posters

The National Rally candidate took a few days to appear on the electoral panels. However, activists and supporters mobilized on Monday, June 17, to put up the posters. Almost all of them were immediately torn off, without leaving any trace: “We are used to this kind of thing but here, it was almost systematic to the point of believing that we were facing an organized team. In Vernon, we finished our collage operation Monday noon, at 2 p.m., the posters had already almost all disappeared”, reports Timothée Houssin. Same observation in the other municipalities of the district, however less recurrent than in Vernon. For the National Rally candidate, these operations underline the concern of his detractors: “When your adversaries deem it useful to tear down your posters, it is because they are afraid of losing.” Timothée Houssin decided to file a complaint.

For his part, Timothée Houssin did not fail to highlight the new strong man of the National Rally, registering as his campaign slogan: “Bardella, Prime Minister! » On the electoral signs, Jordan Bardella is there…

Same formula as in 2022

On the side of New Popular Front (NFP), Pierre-Yves Jourdain (EELV), already a candidate in 2022, used elements similar to his previous poster.

The candidate was photographed with the same model of costume, if not the same, and always approaches the same posture: his back to the Seine, his gaze turned towards the voters. His slogan ? “Social and climate justice”, which echoes the “To live with dignity”, posted in 2022.

If his substitute has changed (Martine Seguela, in 2022, has given way to Amandine Liard, Editor’s note), it still occupies a small place on the poster. Added to all this, at the bottom of the poster, is the long list of parties supporting the NFP. In addition to the four major ones (PS, EELV, PCF and LFI), nearly twenty left-wing movements are mentioned.

No big changes for David Daverton, Les Républicains candidate also renewed. If he can still count on the support of Hervé Maurey and Kristina Pluchet, senators, he has placed Gérard Larcherpresident of the Senate and figure of the right, at the top of the list.

Hervé Morin, posted in 2022, has disappeared in favor of François-Xavier Bellamy. Finally, the one who always appears as “your future deputy” indicates that he belongs to the gathering of republican rights and no longer to the union of the right and the center.

At Lutte Ouvrière (LO), the poster representing Delphine Blitman alongside her substitute Anne-Marie Colin was designed… in the form of a leaflet. In this text, the candidate urges “workers to make their demands heard”, affirming that they “make society run, they must lead it!” »
