Former player of Nancy, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne in particular, Landry N’Guemo died this Thursday following a terrible road accident in Cameroon. He was 38 years old.

The world of football is in mourning. Former Cameroonian midfielder and international, Landry N’Guemo died this Thursday in Cameroon in a road accident which also apparently involved a truck.

Retired from the field since 2020, the former player died in a road accident, a few kilometers from Yaoundé. His car, driven by his driver, allegedly hit a sand truck.

“Landry Nguemo has left us. Far too soon, far too abruptly. ASSE mourns one of its own. To all his loved ones, we send our most sincere condolences,” posted the Saint-Etienne club on X (formerly Twitter). President of the Cameroonian Football Federation and former partner of Landry N’Guemo in the selection, Samuel Eto’o also shared his sadness on Instagram.

A well-known face of Ligue 1, Landry N’Guemo played respectively in Nancy, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne between 2005 and 2015, interspersed with a one-season loan at Celtic Glasgow, before heading to Turkey and from Norway. He notably played in the 2014 World Cup with the Indomitable Lions and reached the final of the 2008 African Cup of Nations.
