In its latest forecast bulletin, Météo-France this Wednesday placed 28 departments in a northwestern part of the country on orange snow and ice alert for the day of Thursday, November 21. Among them are two Breton departments: Côtes-d'Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine.
“The Caetano depression will cross France from west to east, and will cause snowfall to the north of its trajectory on an axis going from North Brittany/Normandy to the Grand-Est”, details the bulletin. Another consequence of this depression is icy conditions, including on the plains. Snow and ice which could be “sufficiently significant to make driving conditions difficult”, specifies Météo-France.
“The situation may still evolve depending on the exact trajectory of the Caetano Depression. It will condition the areas affected by snow and powerful gusts of wind”
“Violent conflict of air masses”
For its part, via a message posted on X, Météo Bretagne calls for caution and announces a “rock'n'roll” day. Thus, “a violent conflict of air masses will occur. Several weather phenomena requiring great vigilance will affect the region.”
And to list a “risk of violent gusts and sustained and heavy rains on the Atlantic coast” in addition, therefore, to the snow forecast in Côtes-d'Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine. “The situation can still evolve depending on the exact trajectory of the Caetano depression”, specifies in a post on X Météo Bretagne. “It will condition the areas affected by snow and powerful gusts of wind.”
