The body of an 81-year-old man recovered from a Haute-Garonne lake, an investigation opened

Firefighters intervened in the town of Montréjeau (Haute-Garonne) on Monday, November 18 to rescue a man who had fallen into a lake or drowned. When they arrived, his body was floating in frozen water. Quickly extracted by emergency services, he was unfortunately pronounced dead on the spot.

A macabre discovery. Monday November 18, 2024, a man was seen in Lake Montréjeau (Haute-Garonne), a town located south of . Alerted around 1:30 p.m., firefighters quickly went to the scene to help the victim, reports Toulouse News .

Open investigation

When they arrived, the man's body was floating in the icy water. A water rescue team was deployed to rescue him from the lake. Despite their rapid intervention, the emergency services could do nothing to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to firefighters cited by France 3 the victim is an 81-year-old man. An investigation was opened by the gendarmes to determine the circumstances of this tragedy. Accident, drowning, suicide… All avenues are favored for the moment.
