ROBERVAL – The Chico pet store continues its expansion in the region with the acquisition of a third franchise in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. The opening of the new branch is planned for next November at Carrefour Jeannois in Roberval.

“When we arrived in the region, my son went to live in Roberval and the location was one of the three main towns that we wanted to develop. It is therefore a project of which we are proud,” mentions Marc Lebrun, associated with his son Christopher in the regional Chico franchises.

In development

Numerous renovations will be carried out in the premises before the planned opening in fall 2024. The amount of the investment remains unknown, as development plans began at the end of June. “We are obliged to make major renovations each time we acquire a store, because a pet store requires specific arrangements in the premises,” he adds.

Regarding the workforce, approximately six jobs will be created. Successful candidates will be able to be trained in the two other stores while waiting for the Roberval store to open in a few months.

“We will soon publish advertisements to recruit workers in Roberval. We are certain of finding candidates, because the employment situation in the region is favorable for us; our four to six positions per store are mostly filled. »

Other expansions?

After Alma in 2022 and Jonquière in 2023, the Roberval store will be the third to open in the region. Other projects could also be considered for the two partners within the sector.

“We have other projects in the region, but the future is still uncertain. We are focusing on developing our current franchises and we will see if other opportunities arise and materialize in the years to come,” concludes Mr. Lebrun.
