Casablanca – Inclusive tourism constitutes a “key element” for the development and integration of all Moroccan regions into the national tourism dynamic, said Tuesday in Casablanca, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Economy social and solidarity, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
This is a major axis of the new roadmap for the sector, indicated Ms. Ammor during the opening of the first “Morocco Showcase Summit: Tourism, Hospitality, Invest”, highlighting innovative initiatives aimed at promoting harmonious and inclusive development.
In this context, she stressed that Morocco is experiencing real growth, as evidenced by the recorded figures, specifying that at the end of October 2024, the country had welcomed 14.6 million tourists.
This remarkable performance is based on strategic investments, in particular the 200 million dollars urgently mobilized after the Covid-19 crisis to preserve jobs and reopen hotels in optimal conditions, she continued, noting that Morocco has is showing resilience in maintaining these figures despite several challenges, such as the 2023 earthquake, through effective management and national unity.
He added that Morocco aims to rank among the top 15 global destinations by 2030, by welcoming 26 million tourists annually, through a roadmap structured around five priorities, namely the development of an offer focused on experiences rather than destinations, increasing air capacity by 20% per year, strengthening marketing and promotion, encouraging investments, as well as developing human resources to support this growth .
This project also includes major social initiatives, such as the expansion of health insurance and the improvement of salaries, which create a stable and inclusive basis to support this transformation, she said, recalling that the organization Joint 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal represents an unprecedented opportunity for Morocco, because it will highlight the infrastructure, image and cultural wealth of the country, while strengthening the economic and social development of its regions.
And to maintain that the government plans to add 150,000 additional beds by 2030, adapted to the identity of the different regions, and is also working on emblematic projects, such as amusement parks and cultural and astronomical circuits, in order to to diversify its tourism offering and allow all regions of the country to benefit from this momentum, while consolidating its position as an essential destination for investors and travelers.
Co-organized by the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) and API Events on November 19 and 20, 2024 in Casablanca, this summit brings together more than 300 investors, hoteliers and tourism leaders from 15 countries, and offers participants the opportunity to discover the potential of one of the most attractive tourist markets in the world.
In addition to conferences and panels, this event facilitated business meetings aimed at strengthening ties between key players in the hospitality and tourism industry and promoting investment in the sector in Morocco.
The discussions focused on strategic subjects such as the development of hotel infrastructure, the diversification of the tourist offer and the integration of technologies in the management of the sector.
