The Gers District recently presented a check for 900 euros to the Cancer League.

The Gers Football District recently organized an evening at its premises dedicated to the presentation of a check for €900 in favor of the League Against Cancer, corresponding to the proceeds from the women's football tournament which took place on October 13 on the FC Pavia facilities, to which must be added a participation from the District.

Women's tournament

This was the 4th edition of this event organized by the District as part of “Pink October”. Eight senior women's teams took part in this tournament, i.e. nearly 80 players, licensed or not, from Gers or Haute-Garonne. At the same time, the U6-U11F welcome day took place with 34 girls present. The players, educators and spectators present showed generosity, all in an excellent atmosphere and under radiant sunshine.

President Claude Requena said a few words of welcome and thanked Henry, Muriel and Serge who directed and animated this event with passion and rigor. He underlined his satisfaction at associating the Gers football District with associations as essential as the League against Cancer, and thus giving the District a social role. The District, through the intervention of Henry Viguier, wanted to once again thank the town hall and the Pavie club for the loan of the land, the sound system and for the organization of the catering.

Prevention is better than cure

The president of the Gers Cancer League, Nadia Benoit, clarified how important such a day was because it allows us to remind the public and the young sportswomen present and mobilized against breast cancer, how important it is to put in place a prevention campaign to detect the disease early and subsequently avoid the complications and psychological and physical devastation caused by heavy treatments; and on the other hand to continue physical activity which remains an essential ally for maintaining good health.

The representatives of the Gers Cancer League wanted to thank all the organizers and participants in this day of October 13 dedicated to “Pink October”, an awareness campaign for the prevention and screening of breast cancer.
