Emmanuel Macron comes to the aid of his Prime Minister under pressure in the National Assembly. It must be said that the threat of censorship from Michel Barnier's government is growing.
“Obviously, I want stability,” declared the Head of State to the press after the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Macron still wants “reforms”
“It’s normal that there are parliamentary debates. I believe that the government, methodically, will continue with the forces of the common base which today constitute this relative majority and with the oppositions to move forward. I want stability. Our country needs to continue to move forward,” he pleaded.
“We need to continue to carry out reforms, we need to continue to be ambitious economically, ecologically, our security, obviously also in terms of our education and our health,” insisted the president of the Republic. “I am confident in our ability to have the stability to do this. »
Michel Barnier has worked since his appointment under the threat of censorship promised by the left, and to which the far right seems increasingly tempted to join during the parliamentary debates on the budget, which would bring down his government. The Prime Minister is also due to receive all the presidents of parliamentary groups, including those of the opposition, at the start of next week in order to discuss the budgetary texts for 2025.
The decision in the hands of Marine Le Pen
Michel Barnier “creates all the conditions for censorship” of the government by the end of the year, for his part estimated the vice-president of the National Rally Sébastien Chenu who pleads in this direction, even if it is Marine Le Pen who will make the final decision.
“France is a solid country which has shown during all these recent months, whatever the political situation, that it was up to all its obligations and commitments,” Emmanuel Macron also assured Tuesday, in reference notably at last summer's Olympic Games in Paris.
