Even as a minister, he returned to the campaign to retain his post as deputy. Thomas Cazenave, Minister Delegate for Public Accounts is again a candidate for these 2024 legislative elections, in the first constituency of Gironde (Bordeaux-Nord, Bruges, Le Bouscat), where he was elected deputy in 2022. From the Renaissance party, he is invested by the Ensemble pour la République coalition, and keeps as deputy Alexandra Martin, who sat as a deputy after her appointment to the government.

Guest of France Bleu Gironde this Thursday, he says he wants “continue the work started. I believe that we proudly represented Bordeaux, Le Bouscat and Bruges by defending very important issues for the constituency. By capping the rents of traders and tenants, by defending viticulture in Gironde, the economy social and supportive…” The Minister of Public Accounts also defends the government’s economic record, despite the procedure opened against France by Brussels for excessive deficit. “We have removed taxes, the housing tax, the audiovisual license fee. We took a large part of the electricity bill from the last budget, it cost us 40 billion euros last year.”

On these legislative elections, where the Marconist candidates will have to face the two blocs of the New Popular Front and the National Rally everywhere, Thomas Cazenave points out the risk of polarization. “What I fear most is that there will be a form of two Frances. A France which should ally itself with the extreme left and a France of the extreme right. And I believe that all those who consider that we should not boil down this political debate to these two major poles drawn by the extremes. There is room for moderation.”
