Two texts were written by the Millavian entities to call for support for the Popular Front during the next legislative elections.

Around a coffee, in the calm of the La Frabrick theater, artists, volunteers, actors from the associative world come together to discuss their vision of the current political situation. “As an association, we have our responsibility as a social actor, for popular education and we realize that today, we no longer know how to do things together”, present the 10 people for this informal meeting.

“To build a barrier with hope behind it”

All agree to support the New Popular Front during the next early legislative elections. “For once, we are calling for a barrier, with real hope behind it, pleads Kévin Perez of the company Création Ephemere. In 1936, political power did something thanks to the power of the streets, today there is a dynamic.”

This was born after the second demonstration against the extreme right which took place in Millau, on Saturday June 15. “We took the time to discuss the issues of the moment between the community and popular education stakeholders, presents Nicolas Bestard from the Envies Enjeux association. This meeting allowed us to show that our problems are the same and that the extreme right was going to endanger our structures, our independence and we said to ourselves that this was not possible.”

Planting the bases

This first post-event meeting allowed us to lay the foundations. Since then, the collective has met and written two texts, one directed to collective structures, the other signed personally by people sensitive to this call. Around forty people signed. “It’s important that the community comes together, we already felt it when we occupied the theater at the Maison du Peuple,” adds Philippe Flahaut.

The collective therefore intends to act, in the coming days, through discussions and interventions, to call for a vote towards the New Popular Front. “And if they are elected, we will be behind them so that they really change the policy that is in place,” completes Kevin Perez.
