The general assembly of the Gard Cycling committee was recently held in Nîmes. Re-election and assessment.
The FFC cycling guard committee recently held its elective general meeting at the Pablo-Neruda center in Nîmes. Daniel Marcoux was reappointed as departmental president.
Daniel Marcoux remains president, small drop in licensees
The moral assessment presented by secretary Franck Tavarner highlighted an overall decrease in licensees (89 fewer), particularly among those under 18 with a loss of 64. Women, on the other hand, are on the rise (+9). The Gard committee has 1,012 members, spread across 22 clubs. Including three competitors who distinguished themselves on the international scene in 2024.
Three special mentions to…
Mentions therefore to Madison Boissière (Vélo-club Mont Aigoual Pays Viganais), three times in the top 10 of the XCE World Cup rounds (cross-country eliminator) including a 3rd place in Indonesia at Palangkaraya, 4th in the France Cup and 5th French MTB XCE championships; to Lorenzo Serres (Essor Cycliste Anduzien), winner of the XCE World Cup in Barcelona, 2nd in the Paris round, 2nd in the French XCE MTB championships and 3rd in the Coupe de France; and to Julien Robert (Lachtouteam CVN), French downhill champion.
Still in terms of results, we must salute the performance of the Nîmes club, which won the FFC Gold Trophy Label in cycle tourism for the sixth consecutive year.
The Occitanie cyclo-cross championships in Vauvert Sunday December 22
Regarding the events, note, in addition to the traditional Étoile de Bessèges in February, the international UCI C1 Handi Gard Classic round of the French Para Cycling Cup in April, organized by Nîmes Cyclisme. The departmental committee has set up a Gard cyclo-cross challenge which has already been renewed for 2025. In this discipline, the Vélo-tonic Vauverdois will host the Occitanie regional championship on December 22.
Furthermore, the organization of road and mountain bike courses last February supervised by technical manager Yann Lequeux was a success. Just like the track initiations on the Taillades velodrome. Mr. Lequeux also intervened in 21 schools to learn how to ride a bike, and with 3 colleges around the “sports people, eating well at college” program, in partnership with the departmental council.
Finally, Gard delegations traveled to the Coupe de France rounds of the road departments in U15/U17 girls and U17 boys, to compete against the best.
