A woman in her thirties is fighting for her life after being hit head-on by a heavy goods vehicle in Saint-Félicien, Lac-Saint-Jean, Monday afternoon.
The impact occurred around 4:30 p.m., at the corner of Rang Double and Boulevard du Jardin (R-167).
The driver, who was on the first artery, turned onto the second, with her car, but did not see a heavy truck which was already traveling there. She was hit sideways.
The truck driver had no traffic signals to obey, assures the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), while the motorist had a mandatory stop to make which was probably omitted.
“The woman was transported to the hospital center for significant injuries,” said Hugues Beaulieu, spokesperson for the SQ, adding that there were fears for her life Monday evening.
Apart from the failure to give way, there does not appear to be any criminal impact in this case, says the police force.
