Stunning raid in the 16th arrondissement… An alleged drug trafficking kingpin taken into custody

That’s what we call a hell of a haul. According to our colleagues at BFM TV, a man was arrested on Monday June 24 in Paris. A “very big fish” according to investigators from the Parisian judicial police cited by the media.

Fraud, theft, violence, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons, Olivier S., nicknamed “Paulo”, had already been convicted around fifteen times when he was arrested in a store in the 16th arrondissement of the capital as part of an investigation into “drug trafficking”.

Several suspects arrested and placed in police custody

Well known to the police, “Paulo” was notably indicted in 2019, then placed in pre-trial detention in a major case of cocaine importation between Paris and Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).

At the time of his arrest on Monday, the 41-year-old man was carrying a handgun. Presented by the police as a “major criminal”, he was placed in police custody in the premises of the narcotics brigade of the Paris judicial police.

He is far from being the only suspect in this case since several other people, also known to the police, are also being questioned in police custody.

“Strong links between the different suspects”

According to BFM TV, “Paulo” was still auditioned this Wednesday.

The investigators from the narcotics squad, supported by their colleagues from the financial research and investigation squad (BRIF), have, according to the media, established “solid links between the different suspects, as well as the outlines of the money laundering circuits from drug trafficking.”
