The inaugural Canada Soccer Player Development Program Championship will feature a group of dedicated volunteers from August 14-18 in Edmonton, Alberta. The new competition will bring together 28 clubs in four divisions for the first year: the U-17 PDJ Cup for boys and girls and the U-15 PDJ Cup for boys and girls.

The competition volunteer program is managed by Alberta Soccer, which serves as the local organizing committee for the 2024 Player Development Program Championship in Edmonton. All matches will take place at the Bill Gilhespy Soccer Complex, with the four finals played consecutively on Sunday, August 18.

Volunteers play an important role in all of Canada Soccer’s amateur competitions, from the Canadian Futsal Championship in April to the Player Development Program Championship in August to the Toyota National Championships in October.

Local applicants can register for Alberta Soccer’s volunteer program on its website, albertasoccer.com.

The roles of volunteers are:

  • Player chaperones (10 years and over)
  • Ball collectors (from 12 years old)
  • Flag bearers (12 years and over)
  • Hoods for ball boys and flag bearers (18 years and older)
  • Field Commissioners (18 years and over)
