It’s a place we like. This bar-restaurant-wine cellar is nestled in a neighborhood where workers’ homes sit alongside those of architects built for more affluent households. A stone’s throw from the velodrome where we once heard the “click-click” of the track riders’ bikes, L’Alphonse has just opened its doors. Masterfully run by the Gardelle family (whose father was the emblematic owner of Seven), this homemade tavern took a long time to emerge. It will finally appeal to those who have been impatient since the closure of Coco-Thyme. It will charm those who like local estaminets (with more than 100 years of history).

On Thursday evenings, from September, wine evenings are planned.

In the past, this establishment (designed by the architect MI+RO) was called by the same name. It houses a wine cellar and a traditional restaurant, where the prices don’t drive the stingy curmudgeons out of their seats. Here, the slate does not take off at over 17 years old for a dessert dish, in the lunch formula (dishes to share in the evening)! Which in Rennes borders on insolence. Here we will cherish the decoration found at antique dealers or their grandmother. We will particularly like the wooden benches, made for a Lille bistro owner in 1921 and found in the home of a Vannes resident.

Here, guests will appreciate the stepped terrace, inviting them to go under the arbor (in case of rain) or to the bottom of the garden (in the evening with the sun in their peepers). Here, small couples with children will live next to grumpy fifty-year-olds. A little tour takes place there! Alphonse (70 seats), 4 rue Alphonse-Guérin. Open Wednesday to Sunday (from 8 a.m. for morning coffee on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, closing at 1 a.m. except Wednesday and Sunday at 11 p.m.).

INFOS + : former student at the University of Rennes 2 (where she studied humanities), the manager Olivia was a waitress and head waiter. She then returned to a school in Montpellier where she completed a diploma in commerce and marketing specializing in wines and spirits.
