The sponge body. The body is a wonderful net for sensations. With its five keen senses, it keenly perceives everything that surrounds us. This album invites us on a stroll around the village in five chapters, each dedicated to a meaning. First of all, the view, which shows us all the colors, from the hunter green of the fir tree to the coral pink of the evening sky and the ocher of the haystack. Not to mention that these beautiful shades change with the light of day. Hearing lets us hear the soft rustle of pages as we leaf through and the jingle of keys in our pocket. As for the sense of smell, it delivers the worst and the best, the scents of the forest as well as those of exhaust fumes. The earthworm under the damp stone gives off an indescribable odor. The dog, this champion, has a much more developed spectrum of odors than ours. Touch is the sense that this album celebrates the most, thanks to a particular manufacturing process. A selective varnish highlights certain details, the cold, smooth metal of a door handle or the scratchy wool of a hat. The album ends with taste. Here, the acidity of an unripe pear, there, the tingling under the tongue of purple berries called sloes. Finally, a succulent dinner around the family table. Yum ! Lucie Lučanská’s illustration is a marvel of delicacy and talent, revealed in a line of electric cables running behind the hill and in the deep, gentle gaze of a horse. An album voted the most beautiful Czech book in 2022. No wonder!
