Today, the CGT Departmental Union Coordination of the Côte d'Or calls on civil servants to mobilize massively to denounce the destruction of the civil service and the dismantling of the status of civil servants. The rally will begin at 11 a.m. on the Place de la République in Dijon, with a distribution of leaflets to raise awareness among users of the consequences of the austerity plan against civil servants, imposed by the government of Prime Minister Barnier.
Actions to alert and communicate with users
The mobilization movement aims to discuss with users and explain to them the challenges of the reforms which are undermining the territorial civil service, particularly the early childhood sector. So that children can grow up in optimal conditions, it is imperative to guarantee professionals in this sector dignified working conditions, salary recognition commensurate with their commitment, and motivating career prospects. The demonstrators invite residents to join them from 2 p.m. in front of the Prefecture to raise their demands alongside the collective “ No babies at the locker ».
Clear demands against multiple attacks
The government is increasing attacks against civil servants according to the CGT of Côte-d'Or. Among them, the imposition of a three-day waiting period before payment of sickness benefit amounting to 90% of salary, the abolition of the GIPA (Individual Guarantee of Purchasing Power), which protected agents against erosion of their income in the face of inflation, and a new freezing of the salary index point. These measures are seen as acts of systematic devaluation of the work of public sector agents, whether low wages who receive a paltry increase of 6 cents to avoid falling below the minimum wage, or growing threats to the CNRACL pension fund, due to the elimination of positions.
For the CGT, the message is clear: Improving the present of early childhood workers means preparing a better future for our children. The union is calling for the recruitment of a sufficient number of qualified personnel, an increase in salaries, an improvement in working conditions as well as recognition of qualifications and professions in early childhood, and consideration of arduousness allowing early departure retired.
Responding to contempt: early childhood workers on the streets
Minister Kasbarian's statements have reignited the anger of civil servants, making them appear as privileged people who would choose to take unjustified sick leave. For the CGT, it is urgent to put an end to this campaign of denigration of the public service and its agents. To ensure that their demands are heard, childcare workers will be present in the streets today to reaffirm their refusal of unfavorable measures.
The demands of the CGT are clear:
- An immediate increase in the value of the index point to 6 euros.
- A repeal of the pension reform and the maintenance of the 100,000 civil servant jobs under threat.
- No increase in the number of waiting days, and the end of penalizing agents on sick leave.
- Maintaining GIPA to compensate for the erosion of purchasing power.
On this day of mobilization, early childhood workers and civil servants from the Côte d'Or affirm their determination: the fight continues as long as their demands are not met. For a quality public service and worthy recognition of the work of agents, let's make our voices heard together, today and tomorrow.
