As announced yesterday morning, by Météo-France La Réunion services, the intense tropical cyclone has weakened. It has now become a tropical cyclone again. Maximum wind speeds at sea are estimated at 120 km/h and gusts at 165 km/h.
The system was located at 4:29 a.m. this Tuesday morning, at points 17.9° South and 67.7° East, i.e. 1,295 km from Reunion Island, but less than 500 km from Rodrigues Island. A passage to the North of the small Mauritian land “is expected during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, accompanied by a deterioration in weather conditions.” The forecasters specify: “Strong winds, sustained rain and dangerous seas are expected between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
