According to an Odoxa barometer, produced by Mascaret for Public Senate and the regional daily press, published on June 25, it appears that the “republican barrier” is now turning towards the New Popular Front, after having historically been against the National Rally. Indeed, 47% of those questioned say they are ready to block the union of the left, three points ahead of the presidential majority (44%), and six points ahead of the RN (41%). Among Renaissance supporters, this also goes in the same direction, because 71% plan to “block” the New Popular Front, compared to 65% of the National Rally.

Also, a little more than four in ten respondents (42%) think that the arrival of Jordan Bardella at Matignon would be a bad thing. However, only 28% would like him to become Prime Minister. 56% of voters also think that National Rally deputies will be in the majority in the Assembly. This feeling is also reflected among the French’s favorite political figures. Thus, if Édouard Philippe comes first with 40% favorable opinion, he is followed by two personalities from the RN: Jordan Bardella (37%) and Marine Le Pen (35%).

According to the barometer, 81% of French people say they “interested” by the legislative elections, a jump of 19% compared to the European elections which took place at the beginning of the month. 48% of respondents even indicating ” a lot ” take an interest in the legislative election. This should lead to a much higher participation rate than in 2022, during the legislative elections, where only 47.5% of those registered voted. One of the main consequences of the increase in participation could result in an explosion in the number of triangulars (three candidates in the second round).
