a 17-year-old teenager shot dead in Rumilly, another seriously injured

An altercation broke out between several young people on Sunday, November 17, in a square in the center of Rumilly (Haute-Savoie). “I heard a gunshot from my house. Then I saw people running”explains a witness. “There were the firefighters, the Samu… Both bodies were on the ground. It's very sad”confides another. One of the young people, aged 17, died. The other, 19 years old, is seriously injured. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy.

The events occurred in the afternoon in a place frequented by walkers and families. The population is in shock. “It’s scary, it was snack time. There were children who were at the games, a little further away”indicates a mother. The town hall will set up a support unit for relatives of the victims and witnesses to the tragedy.

The town of 16,000 inhabitants had never experienced such a phenomenon of violence. “It’s a shock for the whole city”explains the mayor, Christian Vidal.
