On Saturday, November 23 at the media library, the Chalosse branch of the Conservatoire des Landes is hosting a saxophone masterclass with Thomas Barthélémy. The one who studied in Bayonne, Lyon and Versailles, then joined the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance (CNSMD), where he brilliantly obtained a Master's degree with first class honors.
He co-founded the Squillante ensemble, and he performs at many prestigious festivals, in France and abroad. His love for jazz and improvised music led him to collaborate with artists such as Dave Liebman and Didier Lockwood. He has also played with renowned orchestras such as the Orchester de Paris and the Orchester du Capitole de Toulouse.
Since 2015, he has shared his passion and knowledge by teaching at the Basque Country Music Center “Musikene”, at the CRR in Toulouse since 2017, and at the isdaT since 2021. He also directs the Toulouse Saxophone Ensemble. This masterclass, intended for around fifteen students from different conservatories, is also accessible to free listeners.
From 9 a.m. at the Hagetmau music school, the public will have the opportunity to attend rehearsals, benefit from the teaching of Thomas Barthélémy and appreciate the talent of the young musicians. The same evening, the Hagetmau Musical Society will give its Sainte-Cécile concert, at the Salle Aquitaine, at 6 p.m. The Toulouse Saxophone Ensemble, directed by Thomas Barthélémy, will perform the first part of this concert.
