The Orne–Calvados bi-departmental monitoring committee the bovine tuberculosis roadmap was held last October, at the joint invitation of the Prefects of Orne and Calvados, in the presence of stakeholders and representatives of the agricultural profession.

This meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the 2023-2024 bovine tuberculosis prophylaxis campaign and to launch the 2024-2025 campaign.

The extended prophylaxis area

The prophylaxis zone extends to the south-western part of the Orne department. It now includes 20 new municipalities in the surveillance of cattle herds with regard to bovine tuberculosis.

Thirteen municipalitiespreviously located in the reinforced prophylaxis zone, with an age at screening of 24 months, are integrated into the additional reinforced prophylaxis zone, with an age at prophylaxis for cattle of 18 months.

Each farm concerned by bovine tuberculosis prophylaxis was recipient an information letter of the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection of Orne.

The Orne Health Defense Group will organize sector meetings intended for all professionals (breeders, veterinarians) between November and December 2024.

Bovine tuberculosis: 5 outbreaks in Orne

At the end of the 2023-2024 prophylaxis campaign (tuberculosis screening tests on farms), “ five outbreaks of bovine tuberculosis were discovered on Ornais territory. »

A increased surveillance of wild fauna and in particular wild boars, deer and badgers was carried out by the Health Defense Group (GDS), the hunters' federation, the lieutenants of wolf hunting, trappers and hunters.

And scientific update point on the epidemiology of the disease and its mode of transmission between cattle and between species was carried out.

Municipalities in additional reinforced prophylaxis zones: Cahan, Berjou, Ménil-Hubert-sur-Orne, Saint-Philbert-sur-Orne, Ménil-Hermei, La Forêt-Auvray, Bréel, Ségrie-Fontaine, Saint-Aubert-sur- Orne, Chênedouit, Craménil, Lande-Saint-Siméon, Sainte-Honorine-la-Chardonne, Taillebois, Notre-Dame-du-Rocher, Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume, les Tourailles, La Carneille, Ronfeugerai, Athis-de-l'Orne, Sainte-Opportune, Durcet, Landigou, La Selle-la-Forge, Messei, Echalou , Saires-la-Verrerie, Bellou-en-Houlme, Le Ménil-de-Briouze.
