A coastal Special Weather Bulletin (BMS) was issued by Météo France on Monday November 18, 2024. It provides for “a warning of high gales on the Channel North Sea coast”, explains the maritime prefecture in a press release.
Between Honfleur and Arromanches
In Calvados, the area between Arromanches and Honfleur is affected during the night of Monday 18 to Tuesday 19 November 2024 and lasts until Tuesday 19 November afternoon for wave-submersion vigilance, and until the following night for the wind alert.
Wind and large tidal coefficients
Météo France forecasts “westerly and southwesterly winds of force 7 (more than 50 km/h), locally 8, with strong gusts overnight”. At the same time, the coefficients are still significant just after a weekend of high tides.
The Channel and North Sea maritime prefecture recalls “the precautionary measures to be adopted in the event of a weather alert, to avoid secondary accidents which could lead to delicate interventions by emergency services. »
Postpone sea trips
It is recommended to postpone trips to the sea, not to check your anchorage during the alert, but to do so before and after.
