A vigilance yellow wind and waves-submersion was issued yesterday by Météo-France. It must begin on the night of November 18 to 19, 2024 and must continue on November 19up to the'afternoon for wave-submersion vigilanceand until following night for wind vigilance.
And special weather report (BMS) coastal system from Météo France is also underway for the North Sea Channel facadeproviding for a warning of heavy gales over the area extending from Cap de la Hague on the Belgian border with west and southwest winds of force 7, locally 8, with strong gusts during the night of November 18 to 19.
Prudence
The maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea recalls the precautionary measures to be adopted in the event of a weather alert, to avoid additional accidents which could lead to delicate interventions on the part of the rescue resources coordinated by the Cross Jobourg and Gray Nose.
It is therefore important to pay attention to special weather bulletins and wave-submersion alerts issued by Météo France.
During these various alerts, it is recommended to postpone trips to the sea, not to check your anchorage during the alert but to do so before and after or to pay attention to messages from the department prefectures concerning travel on along the coastline.
Finally, it is recommended that boat owners contact the managers of mooring areas and light equipment to find out what action to take to secure their property, and thus facilitate the coordination of actions.
The maritime prefecture also reiterates some important prevention messages: in all cases, prepare your trips to sea, check your equipment, warn your loved ones, have a means of communication with you and, in the event of an emergency at sea, contact the Cross on 196 or on VHF channel 16.
