After launching a Fridge comedy club in Paris, in 2020, the comedian and actor Kev Adams wanted to experience this place dedicated to humor and surprises in the provinces. Having played in the various theaters in the West of France, created by Loïc Bonnet, Kev Adams observed him, exchanged with him and decided to join forces with the boss of the Rouen temple of humor to set up his project in Rouen (Seine -Maritime).

We still had to find the right premises. In fact, next to the theater to the west, there was a club, the JV Club…

Home straight

Despite the rumors that may have circulated, the project still stands. Kev Adams and Loïc Bonnet are more motivated than ever. The two men rolled up their sleeves and the project is about to open its doors to the public. A security commission passes this week and an inauguration date is set: it will be the December 6 and 7, 2024.

The JV club closed, the premises were put up for sale by the owner of the premises. It was two years ago. The opportunity was too good to miss. The two partners are interested in the file. The procedures took time, the two men bought the place in October 2023 and work began at the beginning of 2024. From now on the exterior is painted black, like the theater to the neighboring West.

Transformed interior

Inside, everything is transformed. Brick and stone walls are exposed, a bar room is created, a kitchen, an access corridor to the performance hall and a stage, with dressing room. The lodge is original.

It is in fact a cold room that we bought to transform it into a dressing room. The artists will come out of there to arrive on stage, hence the name fridge (…) Kev comes regularly to the site.

Entrance will not be via Quai Gaston-Boulet, but along Rue Georges-d'Ambroise, perpendicular to the quay. We then enter the bar area which can accommodate around forty people. “It’s a place where there will be a big cocktail menu, cocktails with flavors. The priority of the place will be to make laughbut it is important that the public can wait and snack in good conditions.” Finger food will also be offered. Reception conditions like the Parisian model. And Loïc Bonnet adds: “In the evenings, when there are two comedy stages on offer, the spectators of the first stage will exit through the exit located at the corner of the quay and rue Georges-d'Ambroise , the old entrance to the JV club, and spectators from the second stage will be able to return here. »

Surprise programming

Let's come to the stage, the driving force of the project. Two sets of comedians will be offered from Tuesday to Friday evening, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. “On Saturday, there will certainly be three or even four trays offered. »

The program has already been established for almost a year, but there is no question of revealing a single name, that would break the principle of the room which will only offer surprise sets of five people at a time: an MC (host) and four comedians confirmed or in the making. “Once it is well launched, we will open open mike, for those who have never done a stage and who want to test themselves, then a new stage open more to beginners.”

The city of Rouen is thus increasingly affirming its vocation to be a city where humor is king.
