Demonstration of mayors in Evry-Courcouronnes

Around 300 people demonstrated around 8:30 a.m. in front of the prefecture, in Evry-Courcouronnes. Elected officials denounce a plan that is “unacceptable for local communities”. The text provides in particular for “several financial levies from the ten largest municipalities” in the department “to the tune of ten million euros”, deplores Francisque Vigouroux. The mayor of Igny and president of the Union of Mayors of Essonne fears “a deterioration of daily local public services”, in particular canteens, leisure centers and even social services. A delegation was to be received at the prefecture.
