Each year, the Local Life Trophies support useful and supportive projects. On June 25, in Vannes, a ceremony hosted by Jamy Gourmaud will take place at the Crédit Agricole headquarters. The departmental finalists, divided into three categories, will receive their prizes and various financial support (from €1000 to €2500) as encouragement.

“At one time or another everyone can be affected by cancer, either because they are personally ill or because a member of their family is ill. » This is the observation of Maud Raclet, 43 years old, and Olivier Le Rouzic, 47 years old. During their youth, they each lost their mother to cancer.

In 2022, the entrepreneurial couple decides to act. A charity football match is organized with the Caudan Sports club. “We activated our networks and several business leaders joined us, explains Olivier Le Rouzic, amateur footballer. Funds are collected, 80 jerseys are collected from different professional clubs sold at auction. In total, €22,034 was collected, which was entirely donated to the Lorient Cancer League. A success. »

More than €90,000 in donations in two editions

Olivier Le Rouzic and Maud Raclet are joined by Pierrick Rolland, 57 years old. The team is getting structured. The second edition of the Mouillons le jersey operation is being organized from September 2022. Some 200 jerseys are collected from professional football clubs, but also handball, basketball, cycling, etc. and sold at auction. And nearly 300 partners get involved and make donations. Result: €71,654 in donations.

“Caregivers, these everyday heroes”

Ten thousand euros were donated to the Ysaé association, which offers well-being care to all patients affected by cancer in order to ease the difficult moments linked to the disease. “This donation represents a seventh of our annual budget, it’s enormous, confides Madeleine Scheirmann, president of Ysaé. It allows us to sustain our activities, i.e. more than 1,500 treatments per year, which affect more than a third of cancer patients in the Lorient region. »

As for the Lorient Cancer League, it received €61,654 from the Mouillons le jersey 2023 operation. “They allocated €50,000 to an innovative new program for carers, underlines Maud Raclet. It spoke to us straight away. » Launched on October 6, 2023, this program of the Lorient Cancer League is entirely financed thanks to donations from the Mouillons le jersey operation.

“The idea is to support these everyday heroes, who put their lives on hold to help a loved one suffering from cancer, explains Carole Bernard, social worker at the Lorient Cancer League. We organize discussion groups with a psychologist, individual interviews, workshops to learn life-saving gestures with SNSM, foot reflexology sessions, sophrology sessions… It’s comprehensive help. Today it benefits more than fifty people. We want to perpetuate it. To do this, we need donations from Mouillons le Maillot. »

Helper, Isabelle, 44 years old, testifies on the Mouillons le Maillot website: “Our life changed overnight on December 21, 2022 when a glioblastoma (Editor’s note: serious brain cancer) My husband was diagnosed. In addition to my work and family life, I have a new role, that of caregiver. And that takes a lot of energy. Without the League, I would have quickly given up. I was lucky enough to be able to benefit from the Mouillons le Maillot operation, in particular for home help for housekeeping, a reflexology session and the most important point is the help for all the administrative tasks which are heavy, without forget the role of psychologists. Today, I manage to cope with everyday life. »

The 3e edition of Operation Mouillons the jersey is underway. A play took place at the end of May and brought together 200 people, two charity football matches were played in mid-June. As for partner donations and the jersey auction, they take place throughout the year on the internet. The 2024 edition will close on Wednesday July 3, at the Lanester exhibition center with an auction of 80 exceptional jerseys. “Our goal is to bring together collectives, conclude Olivier Le Rouzic and Maud Raclet, in order to provide caregivers and patients with a bubble of oxygen. »
