NÎMES Launch of the Gard Food Bank collection with former minister Prisca Thevenot

Like every year, the Food Bank organizes a collection in stores in the department. This year, it will take place from Friday November 22 and November 23 and 24, 2024.

“We are appealing to the generosity of the general public. To supply our Gard depot, we mainly need donations of dry food products with a long shelf life and high nutritional added value: cooked meals, canned foods (fish, meat, fruit, vegetables), starchy foods (pasta, rice, semolina), dried vegetables, sugar or even oil without forgetting hygiene products. explains the food aid association.

During these three days, in the 140 partner stores, 1,200 mobilized volunteers will collect donations from 20,000 people at the entrance to the stores.

The kickoff of this collection will take place next Friday in the presence of the 2024 godmother, Prisca Thevenot, deputy for Hauts-de-Seine, former minister and former spokesperson for the government of Gabriel Attal. And the 2024 sponsor, Philippe Ribot, president of the Association of Mayors of Gard and mayor of Saint-Privat-des-Vieux. David Tebib, president of the National Association of Sports Leagues and president of USAM Nîmes-Gard will also be there.

As a reminder, in 2023, the Gard Food Bank, through 91 relay associations including the Red Cross and the CCAS, supported 42,600 Gard beneficiaries. And prepared 13,000 meals daily from the Marché Gare depots in Nîmes.
