On a Wednesday evening beforetraining seniors, they had given each other the word to be there and talk about their clubthat of the Cadillac. They are certain members of the organization chart of the UAC sports association. This Gironde sports association has today almost 120 ans and, this year, she wants restart.

Six spokespeople, but a whole club involved

Around the table, six people dedicated and involved in the club, created in 1906. But to hear them, each volunteer of the club is important and that is how the club will be reborn sportingly and socially after a more complicated period of a few years.

Among these six club representatives, official or not, there is the president (Pascal Laurent), the trinomial of coachs of the senior team (Vincent Moulin, Pascal Mingenette and Jean-Baptiste Fraignieau), a player and educator of the rugby school (Damien Cartier) and a volunteer invests (Frédéric Lalère). “From a death, we wanted to create something positive”

“The sporting objective of the seniors this year is to qualify for the final phases,” says coach Vincent Moulin. He, like his two counterparts, joined the club recently following a great story.

In 2023, Thomas, a former player for Cadillac and Cénac (club where they met), died. During this funeral, we found ourselves between veterans of Cadillac and veterans of Cénac (town in Lot-et-Garonne).

He is immediately joined by Damien Cartier, player history of the UAC, who continues: “After that, we all went for a drink together, we said to ourselves 'and why don't we all play together in Thomas' favorite club?' »

This club, obviously, is Cadillac. Vincent Moulin, formerly of Cénac, applies his alcoholic promise and joined the UAC as a player.

From a death, we wanted to create something positive and revive a club.

During last season, he even spent coach. Then, he extends the adventure to the start of the 2024-2025 sports school year, but this time calls his friends Pascal Mingenette and Jean-Baptiste Fraignieau to join him. They are joined by 20 new players who are added to 20 others already at the club to form the current squad. The beginning of renewal ?

A motivated team after a complicated period

“Last year was hard on the minds of the players,” confides Christophe Mingenette. Indeed, the sporting record did not live up to expectations for the UAC, 18 matches and only 2 victories in Regional Promotion 3, the lowest level of amateur rugby.

For several years, the club has been stagnating.

Death years of hardship sporting – period started after the last champion shield of 4e series in 2018 – the whole club will hope to come out. And even use it.

Since the start of the season, the team has gone on best bases and won 2 matches out of 5. A pace a little below that desired by the manager, but already better than that of last season. And above all, it is equipped with a conquering state of mindplayed that evening by a convinced Damien Cartier.

It's doable! We can win most of our matches and qualify.

For this, it will be necessary to finish in the first four of their group, for the moment overtaken by Virazeil, still undefeated at this stage. There good news ? Cadillac is in the passage time announced and occupies this famous 4e place.

2 very important next matches

“The next two matches are very important », Still tempers Christophe Mingenette, coach of the three quarters (the back positions in rugby). Indeed, these next two meetings could set the tonefor the rest of the UAC senior sports season. They face consecutively two competitors direct access to phases finales : Duras (currently 3e) and Lacanau (6e).

The importance of rugby school

However, the life of an amateur rugby club is not just about its senior team . And the UAC is no exception to the rule. His rugby school is essential in the development and survival of the association.

“Our rugby school starts in the Baby category (3 years old) and this year, we created an under-14 section,” presents Damien Cartier.

Vincent Moulin emphasizes the fact that “it is through the rugby school that we can train our future playersseniors and strong membership in the club.”

His words are supported by the president who adds the importance of a club like social actorlocal. He also recalls that the UAC must come together with other Cadillac sports associations to create something stronger and show their presence to the local communities.

A solid base of motivated volunteers

“The sinews of war are volunteering. » Laurent Pascal is aware of this and proclaims it loud and clear: his club lives thanks to the people who invest in the club.

This year, there is a solid base of motivated people. It is a small family club which must remain so and we must be able to give everyone the opportunity to express themselves.

Pascal Laurent, president

Then comes a list of people essential to the proper functioning of the club: the treasurerthe secretary all the educatorspeople who come to help occasionally with events, etc.

Then, the president concludes with these words: “In fact, the UAC is quite simply finding yourself between friends“. And at Cadillac, everyone wants to capitalize on this to bring back resultsand supportersin their municipal stadium and elsewhere.
