New arrivals alert for Villeneuvois and all residents of Pévèle! Monday June 17, Rita, the festive bistro opened its doors at La Haute Borne, in Villeneuve d’Ascq. It’s been a few days since I saw news about this imminent opening. My brother offers me lunch, it’s an opportunity to try it.
Everything is made on site with French products
We meet there (not next door, 20 minutes from Lille) but the sun is back and there is a big terrace. Tony and Gino, 2 brothers and Nico, the chef, joined forces to set up this beautiful project. And Rita is the first name of their mother (who has come for lunch every day since the opening!) They offer you quality cuisine with French and local products as much as possible, the vegetables and spices are organic and of a sustainable agriculture. They specialize in grilling and rotisserie, everything is roasted (meat, fish, vegetables).
Here, nothing is lost, everything is transformed! Like the juice of beets and carrots to give flavor and color to the hummus – be careful, no garlic at lunchtime, we avoid bad breath when we return to the office – (true, it’s the chef who told us said). Seasonal products that announce a menu that is regularly renewed. Nico, the chef, we met him. A lover of good things, who likes to select his small producers and share his cuisine.
A pretty, tastefully decorated room, a well-stocked bar and an open kitchen
When we arrive, we are immediately welcomed by the team. We discover a large room which can accommodate 140 place settings. The best thing is that the tables are spaced apart and there is good soundproofing. This prevents you from having to struggle to follow your conversation when people are talking too loudly at the next table. A beautiful open kitchen where you can watch the cooks working with a smile to prepare your meal and a huge bar, managed by a mixologist who offers you cocktails galore, draft beers and a fine selection of wines.
But why the festive bistro?
A place that transforms at different times of the day; you can come for lunch and dinner to enjoy the menu, have a drink from 5 p.m. for a quality afterwork and the best thing is that when the kitchen closes its doors, the place transforms into a boom boom fiesta on Thursdays, Friday and Saturday evenings with DJ sets or indoor or outdoor concerts, until 2 a.m.
The +: A big terrace, view of the fields which can accommodate people
You will quickly understand that for me, the sun is important. As soon as he shows up, it’s straight to the terrace! As for Rita, there is a large terrace and a clear view of the fields. Deckchairs, a future pétanque court and background music to enjoy at any time of the day.
