the essential
One month after preparing a strong action in front of the prefecture, the agricultural unions of Tarn-et-Garonne are rekindling the fires of anger from 6:30 p.m. Monday November 18, 2024 in Montauban.
“The anger had calmed but did not completely stop.” The determination is still intact in the voice of Damien Garrigues, the president of the Departmental Federation of Agricultural Farmers' Unions of Tarn-et-Garonne (FDSEA 82). With his colleagues from the Young Farmers, his collective is launching a call for mobilization from this Monday, November 18, 2024, to “light the fires of anger”, at the Europe roundabout, in the Albasud area of Montauban.
“We were asked to allow time, first for the announced measures to be put in place, then for the new government to take office. But, since our mobilizations which began in September 2023, little has happened. changed, it is now time to make ourselves heard”, assumes the Tarn-et-Garonnais farmer, in the midst of preparation work at the time. The Dispatch requests it, Sunday November 17.
“This is just the beginning”
If he does not know how to precisely evaluate the peasant mobilization at the moment, Damien Garrigues is sure of one thing: “On our internal loops, people are reacting. They are motivated to make themselves heard, even if everyone is busy in the fields. There may not be many tractors, but there will be a lot of people, that's for sure, and that's just the beginning,” he warns.

A priori, for the moment it is only a gathering. But disruptions on the secondary network cannot be ruled out by isolated participants.
The continuation of a long-term movement
Throughout 2024, agricultural unions have continued to take on striking actions across the four corners of the department. The most recent took place on Friday October 19, when 200 traffic signs, most of them tools for entering and exiting urban areas, were placed in front of the gates of the Tarn-et-Garonne prefecture, in Montauban. .
At the end of September, members of the same two unions gathered in the evening in front of their consular chamber before covering several strategic locations in Montauban: the prefecture, but also the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT) and the House of the Region. Without forgetting the blocking actions at the start of the year on the department's roundabouts and expressways.
