Coupe de France: without forcing, Stade Briochin qualifies for the 8th round against Paimpol

Certainly, four divisions separated Paimpol (R2) from Stade Briochin (N2). However, the locals never seemed to want to revolt, this Sunday, for this 7th round of the Coupe de (0-3).

Coupe de France (7th round): Stade Paimpolais (R2) – Stade Briochin (N2): 0-3

It often happens that Coupe de France matches resemble those children's stories where Little Thumb triumphs over bad luck. This time, the magic did not work for Stade Paimpolais (R2), which last year reached the 8th round.

Faced with the Griffons (N2) of Guillaume Allanou, the flock of El Hadji Lô did not even try to fight. In short, there was no magic stamped “CDF” on this meeting.

Sunday cleaning up

From the first corner of the game, the Briochins touched Tamine's bar, as a warning. And it is logical that a quarter of an hour into the game, Beghin, with a clear shot at ground level, pierced the Paimpolais net (0-1.14').

The locals tried to attack the Briochin camp, but the defensive curtain of the Briochin Stadium proved intractable. In truth, not much happened, Saint-Brieuc giving the impression of being able to manage its advantage without running too much, while on the Paimpol side, the long balls towards the Briochin goal rarely found a taker. Neither suspense nor excitement was on the agenda for this very quiet Sunday afternoon.

“They are not packing the match”

Back from the locker room, same actors, same scenario. The Briochins were turning the ball. And since Paimpol was unable to worry them, why take risks? “They are not packing the match,” we could hear behind the railings of the green rectangle.

The bright spot came from Janno, who had just returned to the field and who, with his first shot, dashed Paimpol's tiny hopes (0-2, 67'). Then, at the very last second, Ntumi completed his team's success.

Next meeting, the eighth round at Fred-Aubert, where the Griffons will host Saint-Malo, one of the favorites in their group in N2. “It promises a great match,” said Guillaume Allanou at the end of the match.
